Final CAS Blog

I think that CAS has really rounded out my IB and Sturgis experience. The activities I did for CAS were very enriching and blogs have made me reflect on their significance. Whether I was pushing myself in athletics or putting effort into writing position papers for MUN, I reported on challenges and successes I came across along the way. It wasn't always easy. Sometimes I fell behind on blogs and/or had trouble meeting learning outcomes but as with the other aspects of the IB, I had to persevere in order to fulfill my responsibilities. I think what I have learned while doing CAS will carry on to college and beyond. I will be able to take on new challenges and examine the importance of activities, whether they be service, action, or creativity in my life.

Safe Harbor Redecoration Update

I still plan to do the Safe Harbor project even though I haven't written about it in awhile. I do, however, want to wait until spring to really start it because we will be outside a lot and I don't want people to be standing out in the cold and snow all day and getting sick. In the meantime, I do plan to propose the idea to my church soon so some planning can be done pretty far in advance and I have an idea of who is willing to volunteer. I plan to speak in front of the congregation in late February/ early March. I think a lot of people will be inspired and excited about helping out with the project if I effectively emphasize what a difference it makes in my speech and talk about my prior experience with it.

MUN

Our position papers are due January 8th so I have a few days to get it done on top of everything else. I honestly haven't been focused too much on MUN due to my busy academic schedule at the moment but our trip is drawing closer and I need more debate practice. I think the position paper will be relatively easy to do compared to the other assignments I've done this year and as I've said before, we've studied a bit of 20th century Syrian history, which will help a lot.
